Tickets and Hospitality Packages on sale Friday 16 September at 10am
The 3aaa County Ground will play host to one of the music events of the year, as Elton John performs in Derby on Sunday 4 June 2017, as part of his worldwide Wonderful Crazy Night Tour.
Taking to the stage, Elton will perform songs from his latest studio album ‘Wonderful Crazy Night’, as well as his most-loved hits from his stellar career.
The show will be the first in the city since 1979, when he performed at the Assembly Rooms, and tickets for this expected sell-out show go on sale at 10am on Friday 16 September.
Derbyshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive, Simon Storey, said: “Sir Elton John is one of the most recognised and decorated British artists of all time and we’re delighted to secure a tour date for Derby in 2017.
“As well as being an opportunity for the whole city to come together to welcome a music legend, the concert will attract thousands of people to the city with all the economic benefits that brings.
“It will be one of the biggest events we have ever hosted here at The 3aaa County Ground. It’s sure to be a highlight of Derby’s summer calendar and it’s the perfect curtain raiser to the ICC Women’s World Cup that comes to Derby later the same month.”
Leader of Derby City Council, Ranjit Banwait added: “We’re delighted that Derbyshire County Cricket Club has secured a major concert here in Derby.
“Sir Elton John is a British icon and I hope many local people support the concert at The 3aaa County Ground in 2017.
“This is the kind of event that will continue to make Derby an economic powerhouse and will strengthen the city’s prosperity for years to come. It can make a positive impact to the local community, boosting the local economy and creating job opportunities for local people.”
An unmistakable name in the history of popular music, Elton John has done it all – and then some.
From being awarded multiple Grammys and BRITs, and even an Oscar and a Tony Award, Elton has proven his universal acclaim. In addition to selling more than 250 million records worldwide, through his partnership with lyricist Tim Rice Elton wrote the music for the feature film and Broadway stage production of ‘The Lion King’.
