The 3aaa County Ground has been selected to host upcoming Bollywood film, Azhar, and filming will take place next week.
The film, directed by Tony D’Souza, will be a biopic about the life of India cricket great Mohammad Azharuddin, who enjoyed spells with Derbyshire in 1991 and 1994. Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi has been cast in the lead role and will be in the city, along with 130 other cast members and crew for the four days of filming.
Filming will take place from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 August, with the film due to be released in May 2016.
Commercial Director, Ryan Duckett said: “We are delighted to be chosen by the film company to use The 3aaa County Ground for scenes for their upcoming film about Indian cricket legend Mohammad Azharuddin.
“I was given the impression that it was Azhar himself who suggested that filming should take place in Derbyshire and we have been successful in securing the filming which will now take place over four days at the end of next week.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the Club and for the city of Derby with 130 cast and crew members, as well as a potential for extras, spending the week in the city and the economic benefits that brings with it.”
Producers are appealing for extras to appear in the film as part of crowd scenes on Friday 28 August, from 4pm to 8pm. This is your chance to appear in an international film and members of the public can show up on the day, via The 3aaa Pavilion entrance; Nottingham Road, DE21 6DA.
