Over 200 guests enjoyed an afternoon with Olympic Gold Medalist, Sally Gunnell OBE, at the Club’s ‘This Girl Can’ event in the Marquee.
The event, attended by 1870 Business Club partners, included a panel discussion with influential businesswomen in Derbyshire, featuring Di McEvoy-Robinson (3aaa), Judith Lamie (University of Derby), BBC Young Apprentice winner Ashleigh Porter-Exley, April Hayhurst (Derby College) and Liz Fothergill (Pennine Healthcare).
The panel was hosted by Derby North MP Amanda Solloway discussing the challenges and successes they have had in the business world.
Former Olympian Gunnell then took the stage giving an inspirational talk about the dedication and sacrifices she made in order to be the world’s best. The audience then got the opportunity to take part in a Q&A session with Sally Gunnell.
The event also celebrated the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup which will be taking part in Derby as part of a special summer for women’s cricket.
